THE BEETLE Swiss. Made circa 1890. Fine, 18K gold, enamel and rose-cut diamond-set lady?s keyless pendant form watch with concealed dial in the form of a beetle.

Four-body, spring-loaded wings, translucent aqua enamel over engine-turning and set with rose-cut diamonds, opening to reveal the dial, the neck black enameled and set with diamonds, rose-cut emerald eyes, hinged realistically cast and chased underside. Glazed cuvette. D. White enamel, radial blue Arabic numerals and red 12, gilt dot outer minute track. Blued steel spade hands. M. 7???, gilt, bar calibre, 8 jewels, cylinder escapement, three-arm gilt balance, fl at balance spring, index regulator. Dim. 48 x 20.5 mm.
