RETROGRADE SECONDS Robert Brandt & Cie, case No. 739. Made circa 1840. Very fine and very rare, 18K gold pocket watch with retrograde seconds. Accompanied by the original fitted box.

C. Four-body, bassine et filets, the back entirely foliate and florally engraved, polished bezel, coin-edge band. Hinged gold cuvette engraved with the technical details and foliage. D. White enamel with meantime dial in the lower half, radial Roman numerals, outer minute track, large retrograde seconds sector in the upper half, a blue flag with the letter `T` painted within. Gold spade hands, blued steel sewconds hand. M. 18???, matte gilt, 10 jewels, counterpoised lateral lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, flat balance spring, index regulator. Cuvette signed. DIAM. 44 mm.
