GIANT CARRIAGE CLOCK FOR THE TURKISH MARKET Swiss, retailed by Pietro Cella. Made for the Turkish market, circa 1860. Fine and rare, gilt-brass, 8-day going, hour and half-hour striking, repeating giant carriage clock with seconds, calendar and alarm.

C. Multi-piece, gilt-brass, entirely foliate engraved, four outset pillars, glazed on four sides and the top, four ball finials, hinged front and back doors, hinged handle. D. White enamel with radial Islamic numerals, outer minute track, subsidiary seconds, two small white enamel dials below for the alarm and date with Islamic numerals, engraved foliate gilt mask. Steel Breguet hands. M. Rectangular brass plates, four pillars, large going barrels for both trains, lateral lever escapement on a large silvered platform, monometallic balance with three blued steel wings, flat balance spring, index regulator, striking on a bell housed in the base, striking work mounted on the backplate in the Swiss manner, separate alarm train. Dial signed Pietro Cella. DIAM. 20 x 12.8 x 15 cm. Excluding handle.
