CHARLESON - THE LOVER?S SERENADE J. Charleson, London, No. 18437. Made circa 1750. Fine and rare, gilt-metal and painted on enamel pair-cased pocket watch.

Outer : two-body, the deep back cover painted on enamel with a scene of a couple in a landscape, the gentleman serenading the lady, gilt-metal mounts, the bezel painted on enamel with flowers, the interior painted with a further flower spray. Inner : two-body, bassine, polished. D. White enamel with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track and Arabic five-minute numerals. Pierced gilt hands. M. 34 mm., matte gilt, full plate, square baluster pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement, three-arm steel balance with flat balance spring, pierced and engraved single-footed cock. Movement signed. DIAM. 48.5 mm.
