WATCH WITH CONCEALED EROTIC SCENE Girardier l?Aîné, Paris, No. 19913. Made circa 1810. Fine and very unusual, large, silver pocket watch with a concealed painted on enamel erotic scene.

C. Two-body, Empire, reeded bezels, engraved band. D. Small eccentric white enamel with Arabic numerals, outer minute track, gilt brass dial plate chased with foliate decoration, Cupids on oval small silver panels on each side of the dial and above a circular silver panel chased with a scene of a shepherdess resting in the sun, opening via a pin in the dial plate to disclose a polychrome painted on enamel scene depicting a maiden being accosted by a man. Gilt pierced ovoid hands. M. 51 mm., hinged gilt brass full plate with cylindrical pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement with micrometric potence adjustment, plain brass three-arm brass balance, flat balance spring, gilt brass continental cock with polished steel end-piece, rack and pinion regulation. Dial and movement signed, case and movement numbered. DIAM. 61 mm.
