GOLD & ENAMEL WATCH ?AURORA? Swiss, No. 5865. Made circa 1800. Fine, 18K gold, painted on enamel and paste-set pocket watch.

Two-body, Directoire, polished, the back cover with a painted on enamel scene of Aurora being drawn through the clouds in her chariot by two horses, the chariot highlighted by paste stones, royal blue background. Hinged and sprung matte gilt dust cover. D. White enamel with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track, winding aperture at 2. Blued steel Breguet hands. M. 43 mm., matte gilt, full plate, fusee and chain, verge escapement with micrometric potence adjustment, three-arm brass balance with flat balance spring, continental cock with polished steel endplate, rack and pinion regulator with silvered scale. Case, dust cover and movement numbered. DIAM. 56 mm.
