THE DAIRY MAID French. Made circa 1820. Fine, Empire, gilt-bronze and blackened bronze, 8-day going, hour and half-hour striking mantel clock.
C. Rectangular gilt-bronze base with applied reliefs of a cow fl anked by dairy maids, bun feet, bronze horse with glass eyes, basket saddle housing the clock, surmounted by a dairy maid holding a baton and a milk churn. D. White enamel with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track and Arabic 15-minute numerals. Gilt-brass Empire hands. M. Circular, gilt-brass, going barrels for both trains, anchor escapement, brass bob pendulum with silk suspension, striking the hours and half hours on a bell. DIM. 40 x 29 x 10 cm.
