C. Four-body, "bassine" with double bezels, polished, gold hinged cuvette, swivel pendant. D. White enamel, Roman numerals, outer minute ring, outermost chronograph scale, subsidiary sunk seconds, minute register at 12 o'clock. M. 44 mm., frosted gilt half-plate, 21 jewels, lateral calibrated lever escapement with the lift on the pallets, cut bimetallic compensation balance with gold temperature screws and quarter nuts, double overcoiled free-sprung Breguet balance spring, diamond endstone, chroograph mechanism under the dial, minute register driven directly from the hour wheel, repeating on gongs, slide on the band.Signed on the movement. The watch comes from a small series of complicated watches prepared by Benson for the Kew Observatory Trials. An identical watch ten numbers apart (No. 2541) did very well in the 1905 contest.
