French, Royal Exchange, London, No. 22939, hallmarked 1874-75.Very fine and rare 18K gold half hunting keyless astronomical watch with phases of the moon, full calendar with retrograde, fly-back date.
C. Four-body, "bassine et filets", polished, front with aperture encircled with a blue champlevé enamel hour chapter and inner minute ring, gold hinged cuvette. D. White enamel, radial Roman numerals, outer minute ring, center with retrograde date sector, aperture for days of the week below, month sub-dial at 7 o'clock and subsidiary sunk seconds at 5 o'clock. Blued steel "double spade" hands. M. 42 mm. (19'''1/2), frosted gilt three-quarter plate, 19 jewels, lateral calibrated lever escapementith the lift on the pallets, cut bimetallic compensation balance with gold screws, Breguet balance spring.Signed on dial and movement. Diam. 52 mm.
