Four-body, polished, double-stepped bezels, gold hinged cuvette over glazed gold bezel for viewing the movement, stamped with Dürrstein's "portal" mark reserved for the watches made entirely in the factry. D. White enamel, Arabic numerals, outer minute ring, outermost chronograph scale with five-seconds/minute Arabic figures subsidiary sunk seconds, sunk minute recorder at 12 o'clock. M. 44 mm. (19'''1/2), frosted gilt, three-quarter plate, 36 jewels, the top ones in gold screwed settings, staight line Glashütte lever escapement with gold fork and escape wheel, cut bimetallic compensation Guillaume type balance with gold temperature and quarter screws, blued steel Breguet balance spring, micrometric "swan-neck" regulator, repeating on three gongs by slide on the band.Signed on dial, case and movement.Diam. 58 mm.

Only three watches like this were produced by the company.Uhrenfabrik UnionFounded on January 1, 1893, by the Dresden wholesaler Dürrstein who wished to have its own manufactory. The trademark "Union" was registered earlier. The organization and technical management was entrusted to Julius Bergter, who had worked for Dürrstein for many years. All financial and administrative functions were located in the Dresden headquarters. The company very quickly became the leading German manufacturer of precision and complicated watches. In 1895, for the Anniversary Exhibition ofhe Glashütte industry, the Uhrenfabrik Union presented the most complicated German watch ever made. Over its entire existence, the company produced about 27,000 watches, some, as the present one, being of outstanding quality. There were some watches sold by the company whose ebauches were bought in Switzerland and whose escapement was possibly made in Glashütte. These had cases punched with a bell surrounded by stars, while the ones made entirely in Germany had cases punched with a "portal" markThe company made self-striking, dead-seconds watches, pocket chronometers, tourbillons, perpetual calendar watches.
