Notes

Charles Tissot & Fils.Around 1925, while the Omega Company was already famous on the international watch market, an important association was developing in the Charles Tissot & Fils manufacture in Le Locle. The firm had formerly concentrated its production on luxury clocks for the Russian market, but this business had been lost during the October Revolution. In approximately 1930, the S.S.I.H. (Société Suisse pour l'Industrie Horlogère) was founded by Omega and Tissot, who were soon joined by Lemania, Rayville, Lanco, Cortébert, Marc Favre, Hamilton, and in 1971, by the Economic Swiss Time Holding with its low price watches Agon, Buler, Continental and Ferex. Charles Tissot & Fils presented several models at the Paris World's Fair in 1937, at the Zürich Swiss Exhibition in 1939, and were present at the Basel Fair from 1944 to 1946. We recently foundvery elegant Art Deco rectangular and shaped ladies wristwatches in an advertisment dating from 1927.
