Notes

This outstanding carriage clock can be compared with the best of Breguet?s production. According to Charles Allix in "Carriage Clocks", Antique Collector?s Club, 1974, Lézé was a maker of the carriage clock platform escapement (spring detent), who succeeded Blondeau, Horloger du Roi, 19, rue de la Paix, in Paris. The present clock shares some characteristics with a magnificent carriage clock which Blondeau sold to the Duke of Vallombrosa.
