Two-body, forme "Collier", back very finely painted with three children, a boy holding a dove, another looking into its nest, a meadow in the background and a fountain to the right with diamond-set water flowing, paillon flowers and foliage, the whole against dark blue sky, signed "SOUVENIR" below the fountain, pearl-set bezels. D. White enamel, Arabic numerals, outer minute track with fifteen-minute Arabic markers, winding aperture at 2 o'clock. Gold "beetle and poker" hands. M. 42 mm., hingd, frosted gilt full plate with cylindrical pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement plain brass balance with flat balance spring, continental cock pierced and engraved "CHEVALIER".Signed on dial, movement and cock.Diam. 50 mm.

Chevalier & Compagniewatchmakers in Geneva in the last quarter of the 18th century, specialized in high quality watches, often enameled. It appears that at the end of the century the company changed the name to Che-valier & Cochet and continued the same tradition with the addition of high quality automaton watches
