The NightingaleAmerican Waltham Watch Co., No. 7826209, Model 1883, Grade No. 87, circa 1896.Very fine, almost mint-condition, 14K multicolored gold, hun-ting-cased keyless watch with an unusual dial.
C. Four-body, "bassine" triple-hinged back with applied and engraved nightingale sitting on applied gold branch with flowers and leaves, vermicelli border and band, gold hinged cuvette. D. Off-white and blue enamel, elaborate gold paillon radial Arabic numerals with black shadows for relief effect in gold paillon cartouches on blue reserve, outer minute paillon track, recessed sub-seconds. Gold "Louis XV" hands. M. 18 size, nickel full plate with fleur-de-lis damascening, 17 jewels with flush setings, lateral counterpoised lever escapement, cut-bimetallic compensation balance with blued steel Breguet balance spring, Church type I patented (No. 312,253) micrometric regulator, safety pinion, lever-set with Church disen-gaging intermediate wheel patented (No. 295484) system.Signed on dial and movement.Diam. 55 mm.
