Hamilton Watch Co., Lancaster, PA, No. 3C919, Grade 3992B, made for the British Royal Navy in 1942, transferred to the NATO service in 1950 (NATO inv. No. 0552-521-0243).Very fine and rare, keyless, center-seconds "Navigation Master Watch". Accompanied by an original wooden fitted box.

C. Three-piece, chromium-plated nickel, screw back and bezel.D. Matted white, inner 12-hour Arabic chapter, outer red Arabic minute chapter, outermost decimal scale from 1 to 10. Blued steel index hour hand, painted red index minute hand. M. 16 size, nickel, 3/4 split plate, damascened, 22 jewels, 8 adjustments, straight line lever escapement, monometallic balance with self-compensating Hamilton Elinvar Breguet balance spring, Reed's patented whiplash micrometric regulator.Signed on the movement, and case, movement also signed U.S. Govt., British Navy mark and numbered on the back, as well as the NATO number.Diam. 52 mm.

Notes

This is a very rare model, made mostly for the British and Canadian Navies. In the 1950's, this watch was transferred to the NATO system and was converted to a decimal seconds dial, which was needed for fast ballistic calculations.
