Probably French or Swiss, circa 1750.Fine and very rare steel and brass wheel slotting engine.
Cast iron frame and bed with turns mounted on a slide with stop pieces, saw chuck on pivoted and spring-loaded arm with pulley and two transmission wheels, depth adjusting screw, wooden base.Punched with illegible maker's mark on depth-control bracket.Dim. Length 47 cm., width 16 cm., height 21 cm.
