HE.V. STAR, Germany, circa 1640.Very fine and rare small gilt brass vertical hour-striking table clock with alarm.

C.Small molded base, the center part with two dial-plate panels and two side panels, the front engraved with a nude man on horseback, a castle in the background, the back with a man's portrait, the left side panel with a coat-of-arms held by a winged child, the right one with floral engraving, fluted columns, four mermaid finials whose tails support the bell with a single finial. D. Silver with radial Roman numerals, inner quarter hour division, center with silver Arabic alarm disk. Single piered steel hand. Back with striking dial of German Arabic numerals, blued steel trefoil hand. M. Two tier, steel, double fusee and chain for going and striking trains, verge escapement with short pendulum (converted from foliot).Signed on the right panel.Dim. height 18 cm.
