Unsigned, German, circa 1570, modified in the 1st half of the 17th century.Rare and interesting gilt bronze and rock crystal hour-striking man's pendant watch with a chain.
C.Based on tambour type with grooved and pierced band, hinged bezel with rock crystal and 12 openings for the hours, back pierced with rosette, the whole within a rock crystal teardrop frame set in brass, fleur-de-lis pendant with matching finial, heavy chain made of six large wooden fluted beads set in brass caps. D. Gilt brass, hinged, Roman numerals, inner quarter ring, center decorated with scrolling. Single steel hand.M. 47 mm., gilt full plate, four square columns, open barrel and stackfred, 4-wheel train, verge escapement, steel foliot hog's bristle regulator, count wheel on the back plate, striking by a single hammer at the bell fixed to the bottom of the case.Dim. Height 145 mm.
