Composed of five rectangular hinged links, each link with two or three enameled oval portraits of women in ethnic costumes corresponding to 11 Swiss cantons, on gold matted background with applied multicolored gold foliate motives. Spring-loaded lock. Ten miniatures signed on the reverse with the canton of the costumes. Diam. 65 mm, width 27 mm.

Notes

The motif was popular among Genevian enamel artists. There exists another similar bracelet in private collection, Musée International d'Horlogere in La Chaux-de-Fonds has a watch with 22 enamel portrait miniatures of Swiss women in ethnic costumes (Inv I-1800) signed Alliez, Bachelard & Terond fils, Antiquorum sold one similar signed Moulinié Freres( Nov. 16, 2002, lot 32).
