Two-body, oval, spring-loaded cover fitted with sardonyx agate cameo, dark background, white top curved with a profile of a lady, gold frame with twisted wire decoration, over white and black enamel champlevé triangular repeated pattern, band fitted with scrolling decorated with black and white enamel, polished back. D. Gold, champlevé radial Roman numerals, on polished ring, outer minute divisions, center and outermost engine turned, border with applied gold foliate pattern. Gold "lozenge"ands. M. 29 mm, hinged, frosted gilt full-plate with cylindrical pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement brass balance with flat balance spring, continental cock. Signed on dial and movement.Dim. 58 mm x 47 mm

Alliez, Bachelard Terond. Partners from 1820 to about 1845. From 1828 the firm took the name Alliez, Bachelard et Terond Fils. One of the petitioners in 1829 for a new observatory. They specialized in musical watches, repeaters, and skeletonized watches both in full plate as well as Lepine caliber. They also specialized in watches for Italy, France and Spain. The order of the names is sometimes inverted.Literature: "Dictionnaire des Horlogers Genevois", Osvaldo Patrizzi, Antiquorum Editions, Geneva, 1998.Piguet & MeylanIsaac Daniel Piguet and Philippe Samuel Meylan were in partnership from 1811 to 1828. From 1815 until the end of their association in 1828, Piguet and Meylan both lived, with their families, in the same house located at number 45 rue Chevelu (today re-named the rue Jean-Jacques Rousseau).Isaac Daniel PiguetBorn in Chenit in 1775, he died in Geneva in 1841. A very skillful watchmaker, he entered into partnership first with Henry Capt, from 1802 to 1811, and then, until 1828 with Samuel Philippe Meylan, another watchmaker from the same village. Their work was marked with the initials "PM" within a lozenge. After 1828, Piguet continued his activities with his son, either under the name of Piguet & Fils, or under that of I. D. Piguet & Cie. Their creations were for a large part made for the Chinese maket.Philippe Samuel MeylanBorn February 15, 1772, in Bas-du-Chenit, he died in Geneva in 1845. At the age of 20 he came to Geneva where he was a master worker for the Godemar Frères. He met another watchmaker from his native region, Isaac Piguet, and they entered into partnership, founding the Piguet & Meylan firm, which was to last from 1811 to 1828. It specialized in minute cadratures, musical watches, ske-eton and automaton watches. Meylan is also credited with the invention of the bagnolet caliber. After Piguet & Meyan was dissolved, Philippe Samuel Meylan continued to work with his sons François and Auguste.
