Notes

Constant Girard (1825-1903)He changed his name to Girard-Perregaux after marrying Marie Perregaux, the daughter of a well know chronometer maker, had established his reputation as a maker of precision watches. The present lot is proof that he did not change his standards after he achieved his fame. The company did business first with Peru and Chili and later with Argentina, where this watch was most likely destined.
