Susanna and the Elders Windmills, London, No. 8708. Hallmarked 1729-30. Very fine, pair-cased, 22K gold pocket watch with repoussé case.
C. stamped "WS", outer: repoussé case back depicts Susanna being surprised while bathing by two old men, border with repoussé scrolling. Inner: two-body, "bassine", polished. D. gold with champlevé radial Roman numerals, outer minute ring with five-minute Arabic markers in polished cartouches, the whole on matte background, center with scrolling. Blued steel "poker and beetle" hands. M. 38 mm. (17'''), frosted gilt full plate with cylindrical pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement, plain brss balance with flat balance spring, single-footed cock with a mask and almost straight foot, diamond endstone.Dial and movement signed.Diam. 52 mm.
