Le Roy, Paris, No. 336, circa 1770. Very fine gilt metal gentleman's travel nécessaire set with semi-precious stones and fitted with a watch.

C. Three-body, cylindrical, entirely repoussé with Oriental landscapes, European vessels and musical instruments within rococo scrolls and floral decoration, the watch fitted in the center of the lid, the bezel set with amethyst-colored paste stones, the lid and bottom bands with emerald-, garnet-, and multi-colored paste stones, the compartments within containing a variety of items such as a spoon, a knife, a pencil, a notepad, a mirror, a pair of scissors, a compass and a small telescope (lacing band and lens), the inside lid fitted with a mirror. D. White enamel, radial Roman chapters, minute dot divisions with five-minute Arabic numerals. Gold "Louis XV" hands. M. 32.5 mm., hinged, gilt brass full plate, simple baluster pillars, verge escapement, plain three-arm balance, blued-steel balance spring, continental cock pierced and engraved, rack and pinion regulator with silver plate.
