Denis Bordier, Genève, made for the Islamic market circa 1640. Very fine and exceptionally rare silver oval pre balance spring pendant watch.

C. Oval, double-body, fully chased with flowers and foliage, the lid with a cherub leaning on a shield, back centered with a small landscape. Chased finial and loose ring pendant. D. Gilt brass chapter ring engraved with radial Roman numerals and half-hour divisions, applied on the hinged silver plate located by four lugs and entirely engraved with scrolling foliage. Gilt brass single hand. M. 37 x 44 mm.ø, Oval, hinged, gilt brass, the back plate engraved with flowers and foliage, elaborate pirced and engraved gilt brass pillars, short three-wheel train, verge escapement, plain steel two-arm balance without spring, irregular gilt brass pierced and florally engraved balance cock secured by a pin, ratchet wheel set up with matching decoration.Signed on the back plate.Dim. 47 x 53 mm.
