Souvenir. Attributed to Piguet & Capt, Genève, circa 1802. Extremely fine and rare 18K gold and painted on enamel carnet fitted with concealed watch, printed calendar notebook for 1802 with a pencil, in a leather fitted box.

C. Four-body, slender and tapered, the watch side with a central panel finely painted with two young ladies holding flower garlands, one pricking her finger on Cupid's arrow, below a hinged champlevé enamel panel decorated with two doves, the hinged top cover decorated en suite with doves in a flower basket, the other side with a central painted on enamel panel depicting a swooning knight in armor, with his lady behind him and doves below, the top decorated similarly to the other side with the word "Souvenir" in champlevé enamel below doves building a nest, both sides bordered by green champlevé enamel in a gold leaf pattern, champlevé enamel edges. Inside a compartment for a pencil and a small calendar/notebook in red morocco cover tooled "1802". D. Black, white, and blue champlevé enamel, designed as a clock with a flower urn at the top, center with Breguet numerals for the hour chapter, outer minute divisions. Small blued steel spade hands. M. Rectangular,25 x 10 mm, hinged, gilt brass, fixed barrel, cylinder escapement, three-arm brass balance with flat balance spring.Dim. 79 x 35 x 9 mm.

It is rare to find an object of vertu which is dated: this gives us the rare opportunity to date the watch - which was clearly made for the box - and the box itself, with great precision.
