It set off on its maiden voyage on April 10, 1912, with almost 1000 crew members and over 1500 passengers. Late on the night of Sunday April 14th the ship struck an iceberg. Less than three hours later it sank, in what was perhaps the most famous and tragic shipwreck in history.
