C. Three-body, "Empire", polished. D. Silver with Réaumur scale graduations and indications for freezing point: ?Eispunt? and the temperature at which water boils: ?Siedpunct?. Blued steel hand. M. Gilt brass with bimetallic curb, rack and pinion transmission with coiled return spring, fine adjustment screws on both terminals of the curb, constructed along the same principle as similar thermometers made by Houriet, Jürgensen and Breguet.Signed on the dial, case stamped with Austrian silver hallmarks for 1810-1812.Diam. 51 mm.

Johann Holzmann also HolztmannCame from a renowned family of horologists and makers of scientific instruments. His father, Johannes, was Master in 1775. He became a Master in 1789, his brother Christian in 1791 and his son fils Johann in 1814.A watch in the Schloss Collection, was made by Johannes Holzmann, the father, around 1775. Its dial is raised rather high above the movement, the hands being driven through a long neck. It is mentioned by E. J. Britten in " Old Clocks & Watches and Their Makers".
