The Scallop Shell. P. Plantier fils, fournisseur de S.M. le Roi, Lisbonne, probably Geneva, circa 1850. Fine and unusual 18K gold and enamel pearl-set form watch with concealed dial, designed as a scallop shell.
C. Five-body, with graduated pearls and translucent imperial blue enamel on the engraved shell ribs, oval suspension ring, each cover spring-loaded, gold hinged cuvette. D. White enamel, radial Roman numerals, outer minute divisions. Blued steel Breguet hands. M. 24 mm. (10 1/2''', bar caliber, 10 jewels, cylinder escapement, three-arm gilt balance with flat balance spring.Signed on the cuvette.Dim. 40 x 34 mm.
