Giles, Wales & Co., Chaux-de-Fonds, No. 9490, circa 1850. Fine and rare 18K gold hunting-cased double-train independent dead-seconds watch with fourth-seconds foudroyante.
C. Four-body, "bassine et filets", polished, hinged gold cuvette. D. White enamel, radial Roman numerals, outer minute ring, outermost seconds divisions with five-seconds Arabic markers, subsidiary "diablotine" flying quarter seconds at VI o'clock. Blued steel Breguet hands. M. 45 mm (20''', nickel, 24 jewels, "fausses côtes" decoration, calibrated straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, tandem winding, lever-set.Dial, case and movement signed.Diam. 55 mm.
