Exceptional horologic works of art

T. Selling, London, made for the Russian market circa 1740. Very fine and rare 22K enamel and repousee pair cased quarter-repeating watch with a provision for à toc and à tact.
C. by "IW", outer: two-body, back with painted on enamel decoration of doves and flowers within a pierced, chased and engraved surround with four enameled vignettes, a stork, a swan, a dragon and a dog. Inner: Two-body, "bassine" with deep back, band very finely pierced and engraved with scrolling foliage and eagle and dogs head masks, village scene at the pendant and an elf mask at 6 o'clock, polished back with small rosette in the center.Gilt dust cover. D. gold, champlevé radial Roman numerals, outer minute divisions with five-minute Arabic markers on polished cartouches, matted background, center repoussé with a scrolls and arabesques. Blued steel "beetle and poker" hands. M. 40 mm, frosted gilt full-plate with turned baluster pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement, brass balance with flat balance spring, silver single-footed winged with pearced and accanthocladus decoration,plate mounted with conforming decoration, repeating on bell by depressing the pendant.Dial and movement signed, case with casemaker's trademark.Diam. 58 mm.
