Mother and Daughters. Matthey & Comp., No. 1232, Swiss, circa 1790. Fine 18K gold and painted on enamel watch.
C. Two-body, "Directoire", back finely painted on enamel with a scene depicting a young mother playing with her two daughters, champlevé enamel bezels and pendant. D. White enamel, Arabic numerals, outer minute divisions with fifteen-minute Arabic markers, winding aperture at 2 o'clock. Gold skeletonized "cathedral" hands. M. 43 mm., hinged, frosted gilt full plate with cylindrical pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement brass balance with flat balance spring, continental cock pierced and engraved with letters "MATTHEY".Signed on dial and movement and cock.Diam. 52 mm.
