The Muses and Jupiter. Geneva, goldsmith's mark "GGR", circa 1820. Very fine gold and enamel rectangular snuff box with canted corners, in fitted leather box.
C. Two-body, rectangular with canted corners, the lid centered with painted on enamel grisaille scene depicting Euterpe, Melpomene, Terpsichore and Clio with Jupiter against a copper colored background, hexagonal gold and black champlevé enamel frame,the background with four gold triangles with chased flowers, musical instruments, a wheat sheaf and a sickle, amphora, fruit basket and translucent imperial blue enamel over engine-turning with black edge, champlevé enamel border, side panels and the base in en suite translucent imperial blue enamel over engine-turning and champlevé borders.Punched with maker's mark ("GGB" or "GGR" surmounted by a crown inside the front lid.Dim. 95 x 67 x 17 mm.
