Two-body, front lid centered by an oval painted on enamel medallion depicting a hunter bringing his lady a bird, paillon frame, white enamel background with arabesque type pattern and gold paillons, border with gold twisted rope pattern and champlevé white enamel, the sides with champlevé white and translucent imperial blue enamel with paillons, front with diamond-set thumb piece, side panels and base en suite, canted corners with paillon flower vases on white enamel background.Punched with maker's mark inside the lid and box.Dim. 83 x 56 x 24 mm.

A splendid box with unusual decoration. An oval box with the same unidentified mark, decorated with a miniature of Marie-Antoinette, is in the Louvre Museum (inv. OA 2167).
