Country Pastimes. French, end of 18th century. Charming and amusing tortoiseshell, gold and wood round snuff box fitted with four automata.

C. Two-body, tortoiseshell cover in wood and mounted in gold decorated with floral pattern, sides painted in gold and red alternating stripes. Automaton: country scene with a women milking a cow, another churning butter, a third washing clothes, while a man grinds a knife.Diam. 64 mm, height 31 mm.
