"Religieuse" Clock. Simon à Genève, circa 1700. Very fine and rare ebonized quarter-repeating early pendulum table clock with alarm.
C. Rectangular, glazed in front and sides, molded base, bun feet, detachable top covering the bell with giltbrass pierced decoration for sound, supported on molded base with two finials, hinged door at the back. D. Brass chapter ring with champlevé radial Roman numerals, outer minute divisions with five-minute Arabic markers, center with revolving alarm setting dial with radial Arabic numerals, winding apertures at 9 for alarm, at 6 for going train, below fine applied gilt brass decoration of two trumpeter figures and foliage decoration, center with a crest. Blued steel "pierced and poker" hands. M. Rectangular, brass, going barrel, verge escapement, steel rod/brass bob pendulum, silk suspension, repeating on two bells with two hammers by pulling the cord protruding at the right side panel, alarm utilizing inner bell.Signed on the dial.Dim. height 46 cm, base width 24 cm..
