C. four-body "Empire", No. 3167, barley corn engine-turned back, band reeded in unusual double pattern, hinged gold cuvette with winding aperture. D. Gold, champlevé radial Roman numerals, outer minute dot divisions, engine-turned sunk seconds between 4 and 5 o'clock, secured by a screw. Blued steel Breguet hands. M. 51 mm (22 1/2'''), gilt brass, bar caliber, hanging barrel with continuous stop-work, ruby cylinder escapement, plain three-arm gilt balance, flat balance spring, train jeweled to the second wheel, compensation curb, diamond endstone, repeating on blades by two hammers via the pendant acting as a pull piston.Dial and cuvette signed.Diam. 51 mm.

Le Roy & Cie. Bazile-Charles Le Roy, the son of Bazile Le Roy, settled in the Palais Royal in 1788. His first address was 88 Galerie de Pierre. Subsequently the workshop moved to 13-15 of the same Galerie, which was renamed the Galerie Egalité during the Revolution and the Galerie Montpensier in 1815. During the Revolution, Le Roy changed his name to its anagram, "Eylor". In 1827, the firm's name was changed to "Le Roy, horloger du roi".
