Tiffany & Co, No. 78257. Produced in Switzerland circa 1890.Very fine and unusual, minute-repeating, keyless, 18K pink gold, Kashmir sapphire- (approx. 1 ct.) and diamond-set pocket watch with split-seconds chronograph and 60-minute register.

C. four-body, "bassine", solid, polished, case back with a five-pointed diamond and sapphire star, gold hinged cuvette with dedication. D. white enamel with Arabic numerals, outer minute and seconds divisions with red Arabic five-minute/seconds numerals, 60-minute register at 12, subsidiary sunk seconds dial. Blued steel "spade" hands. M. Cal. 18 1/2???, (41 mm.), nickel, half-plate, 32 jewels, straight line calibrated lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet blance spring, "swan-neck" micrometer regulator, visible chronograph and split-seconds mechanism, repeating on gongs through activating slide on the band.Dial, case and movement signed, movement also engraved ?Pat. Feb. 5, 67?.Diam. 52 mm.

The engraving on the balance cock ?Pat. Feb 5, 67? refers to American patent No. 61867, granted to George P. Reed of Boston, Massachusetts, an employee of the Waltham Watch Company, for a ?regulator for a balance by a screw and a spring?, which today we call "swan-neck" micrometer regulator.With A.G.L. report stating the sapphire is of Kashmir origin.
