Notes

An interesting watch by a German watchmaker; the scene on the back was quite popular in 18th century France. It was most likely inspired by the work of Teniers or Greuze. Abeler lists François Richard, working in Hamburg (Altona was then on the outskirts of Hamburg), in the second part of the 18th century.
