Giles, Wales & Co., Chaux-de-Fonds, No. 9490. Produced circa 1850. Fine and rare, hunting-cased, double-train, independent dead-seconds, 18K yellow gold watch with quarter-seconds foudroyante.
C. Four-body,"bassine et filets", solid, polished, hinged gold cuvette. D. White enamel with radial Roman numerals, outer minute ring, outermost seconds division, subsidiary "diablotine" flying quarter seconds at 6. Blued steel ?Breguet? hands. M. 45 mm (20'''), nickel, 28 jewels,"fausses côtes" decoration, straight line calibrated lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, tandem winding.Dial, case and movement signed.Diam. 55 mm.
