Gérald GentaDaring to be differentInventive and bold, Gérald Genta is one of the greatest creative and original watchmakers of our time. Each of his innovations combines technical prowess with originality, inventive genius with unequalled expertise. Gérald Genta breaks with tradition and opens new horizon in the Art of Watchmaking.Tradition...For 25 years, the "Genta miracle" took place behind closed doors in the secrecy of the Brasus and Geneva workshop. During this time, the brand was not very communicative, to such an extent that only a privileged few in the world of prestige watchmaking - collectors and competitors - were truly aware of its brilliant achievements. For its clientele, Gerald Genta created splendidly unique timepieces, combining the fruit of exactingly complex technical research and refined aesthetics. Collections dsigned exclusively for the discerning consumer. In 1979, thanks to the beauty of of its timepieces and the quality of its watchmakers, the brand received the prestigious Poinçon de Genève (the Geneva hallmarks), symbol of excellence and perfection in movements. This intense activity led to the creation of the Grande Sonnerie in 1994, the most complicated wristwatch in the world. This unique creation established Gérald Genta as one of the most prestigious watchmakers of our time. This year, to celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of the manufacture, a new version of the Grande Sonnerie has been produced. The mechanical movement of this timekeeper has been inverted, so that the 4-chime hammers, the tourbillon, the chime regulator, and the Poinçon de Genève are visible through the partially transparent dial.Modernity...The brand's desire to separate its activities began in 1996: on the one hand, Gérald Genta continued to provide prestigious clients with custom-made pieces, while at the same time opting for a strategy with a more commercial edge, offering both a more attractive style and prices, specially tailored to market requirements. At the same time, the distribution network was expanding, and production - up to this point confidential - was on the increase. The retro, or the reinvention of timeIt is in this spirit that the Retro collection was created, a collection which, today, has repositioned the brand in terms of price, and constitutes one of the company's major trends of development. This watch with its jumping hours and retrograde minutes defies the very principal of telling time with two hands. Following the international success encountered by the Retro classic, several variations of the basic model were developed. The dial of the Biretro includes a retrograde date, and for thmore extravagant, the Retro Fantasy collection features a variety of Walt Disney characters whose arms replace the minute hands.More recently, the Retro Sport was added to the list, and became an immediate success. Its handsome proportions, the precise sculpture of its lines, the generous dimensions, its multi-tiered dial with luminescent numerals, the screw-locked crown and elegant fluted edge confer on the Retro Sport its sporty character, while conceding nothing of its stylish elegance. The year 2000 on your wristCaught up in the momentum, Gérald Genta created another unique watch, the Backtimer, especially conceived for the countdown to the year 2000. It displays the number of days left until December 31st 1999, and is an impertinent yet sophisticated entry into the third millennium. Thus the Gérald Genta brand has been able to fully express its identity: independent, contemporary and avant-garde. Their innovative watches are produced with an eye to market requirements. Their products are surprising, but inspired by current fashion trends. Their timepieces are novel, but manufactured in the utmost respect of horological tradition. For Gérald Genta is indeed the brand with the Mickey Mouse dials, but also the brand which boasts the development of the world's thinnest Minute Repeater. The typical wearer of a Gérald Genta watch is an aesthete, who perceives his watch not only as a timepiece, but as an object of pure pleasure. His passion for watchmaking draws him to the perfection of a hand-crafted movement; his personality prompts him to be unconventional, and his self-assurance allows him to stand out from the crowd. He finds in Gérald Genta what he wants out of life: style.Sold for the benefit of the Geneva Schoolof Watchmaking and MicrotechnologyGérald GentaDaring to be differentInventive and bold, Gérald Genta is one of the greatest creative and original watchmakers of our time.
