Notes

Universal GenèveUniversal was founded in 1894 in the town of Locle in the Jura Mountains during a time of quick development of the Swiss watchmaking industry. The Company moved to Geneva in 1934 and set out to conquer the world with a production of quality timepieces, which is the result of research, competence and ultimately sheer passion. The 1930's witnessed the birth of the Universal dual push-piece chronograph that brought about a veritable revolution in the field of chronograph functions. This innovation was followed by the Compur range and, in 1936, the Compax , which paved the way for a never ending series of prestigious new models-in particular the Tri-Compax which was specially created for the 50th anniversary of the Company in 1944.President Truman wore a Tri-Compax when he met with Stalin and Churchill during the Potsdam conference in 1945.In the fifties and sixties, Universal Genève enhanced its position and reputation with the creation of the Polerouter, a watch that was capable of resisting the magnetic field of the North Pole. The watch is equipped with the famous Microtor automatic movement, which was the thinnest automatic movement at the time. While the eighties witnessed the inauguration of its new Geneva headquarters, the nineties have opened a new chapter in the brand's rich history. By creating a range of products in tune with the times - typified by the "Senna Watch by Universal Genève" presented in 1997 - Universal Genève convincingly demonstrates the skills which have forged its success throughout this century.Universal Genève's tradition has always involved focusing on technical innovation and aesthetic refinement in crafting their models. These values continue to guide their corporate strategy. Excellence in each creation: such is the aim consistently pursued by Universal Genève, determined to remain faithful to their longstanding reputation.Sold for the benefit of the Geneva Schoolof Watchmaking and Microtechnology
