Paul Garnier, No. 5767, circa 1860.Very fine silver hunting cased keyless decimal Tachometer No. 41, Système E. Marié, with decimal minute recorter.

C. Four body, massive, "forme quatre baguettes", polished. A printed tachometer table calculated for one kilometre, stuck inside the cover. Hinged silver cuvette. D. White enamel with radial Arabic numerals and 10 x 10 divisions. Blued steel hands. M. 22''', gilt brass, three-quarter plate with going barrel, cylinder escapement, plain brass three-arm balance, flat balance spring with regulator. Tachometer bolt and reset slide in the band.Diam. 58 mm.

Although it is not signed, this chronograph is absolutely identical to those, made by Paul Garnier, Système E. Marié, for the Paris-Lyon-Mediterranée railway company, circa 1860. (Two chronographs of this type were sold by Antiquorum on April 25, 1999, lots 91 and 92).
