Multi-piece ?Empire?, made of engine-turned solid silver, applied with gilt bronze finely chased fleurons and foliage, the corners with flat section Corinthian columns with gilt bronze finely chased capitals, glazed four sides with hinged and engraved bands, back and front doors, the engine-turned top with glazed oval aperture, four turned ball finials and arched handle with chased knob, supported by lions? heads.D. White enamel with Roman numerals and subsidiary seconds on chapter ?XII?. Silver engine-turned dial plate with small white enamel subsidiary dials for days of the month and alarm setting. Blued steel Breguet hands. M. Brass rectangular with going barrels both on the going and the striking trains, frosted silver platform with spring detent escapement, two-arm cut bimetallic compensation balance, free sprung blued steel helical balance spring with terminal curves. Striking, repeating and alarmn two bells concealed in the base, striking and repeating work on the back plate, the Grande Sonnerie/Petite Sonnerie/Silent optional lever on the lower right corner.Signed on the dial.Dim. 142 x 95 x 70 mm excluding the handle.

This outstanding carriage clock can be compared with the best production of Breguet.According to Charles Allix in Carriage Clocks, Antique Collector?s Club, 1974, Lézé, was a maker of carriage clock platform escapement (spring detent), who succeeded Blondeau, Horloger du Roi, 19 ,Rue de la Paix, in Paris.This clock can be compared with a magnificent carriage clock sold by Blondeau to the Duc de Vallombiosa.
