J. Weldon, London, No. 625, circa 1760.Very fine and unusual 20K gold, enamel and under-engraved glass, morocco covered necessaire cabinet designed as a miniature secretaire with inset watch, in fitted box.

C. Designed as a small black morocco covered secretaire applied with finely chased gold decoration: pastoral scenes, trophies and further rocaille ornaments. Doors, leaf and front, applied with very fine glass panels under-engraved with mythological scenes, the watch fitted on the top, surmounted by a small gold putto. The upper doors opening on a pair of scent flasks with gold and porcelain caps. The leaf disclosing a complete steel and gold necessaire, including a mirror, a knife and a pill bo. The back door of the watch compartment is fitted with a very fine enamel panel painted with a coat of arms. D. White enamel with Roman numerals and outer Arabic minute ring. Blued steel ?poker and beetle? hands. M. Hinged gilt brass full plate with cylindrical pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain steel three-arm balance, flat balance spring. Gilt brass English balance cock pierced and engraved with flowers and foliage.Signed on the back plate.Dim. 240 x 70 x 55 mm.
