Juvet, (Fleurier, Val de Travers), Swiss, made for the Chinese Market, circa 1890.Fine and unusual, silver and enamel centre-seconds, portico table timepiece.
C. The silver base with engraved decoration in a Chinese pattern, the top panel with a cloisonné enamelled composition of birds on branches. The watch movement fitted within a silver portico supported by a pair of Fô-Dogs. D. White enamel with Empire Roman numerals, outer minutes and seconds ring and inner red Arabic ring for the hours from13 to 24. Blued steel ?spade? hands. M. 21???, brass, Chinese calibre with free standing barrel, lateral lever escapement, bimetallic balance, flat balance spring.Chinese signature of Juvet on the back plate.Dim. 170 x 127 x 92 mm.
