Designed as a ornamental pond standing on four feet with foliate decoration, the powder blue flinqué enamelled pond painted with cherubs seating on clouds, alternating with small painted flowers, the water simulated by a mirror. D. Egg shell enamelled horizontal chapter ring with Roman numerals alternating with floral decoration. The index, fixed on the revolving mirror is designed as a carved ivory figure of Cupid, standing on a silver gilt small boat.M. 22???, frosted and gilt, three-quarter plate,15 jewels, straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance, Breguet balance spring.Diam. 123 mm.Master mark on the base.

Arnold & SteinwachsTable and carriage clock maker, was established in 1901, rue du Rhône, 48. From 1910 onwoods, supported by innovators such as Gübelin in Lucern, Arnold & Steinwachs, began the production of several clocks, each unique, which were bought by collectors worldwide. The Cupid in a rowing boat, fitted on a revolving mirror and pointing time on the horizontal chapter ring fitted on the edge of an ornemental pound, was among the first produced. Mostly made of gilt silver, they were made in different desgns and decorated with flinqué enamel, enhanced with painted scenes and further paillonné or applied ornaments. Demole was specialised in enamels painted in the Limoge style and Lossier in miniature scenes painted in the test of the 18th century, afer Boucher and Fragonard.
