Notes

This watch is the first model of the modern era. It appears simple, but it has unique characteristics representing a high level of watchmaking. In addition to the 'outsize date', the movement has a twin mainspring winding barrel system, which is rare for a wristwatch. In homage to the famous five minute digital clock of Dresden's Semper Opera, planned and built in 1841 by Walter Lange's father-in-law, Johann Christian Frederich Gutkaes, the Lange 1 is characterized by the 'outsize date', a partiular patented device of the German house.
