Daniel de St. Leu, Watchmaker to Her Majesty, London, No. 1143/2524, made for the Turkish market, case stamped with maker's mark of John Penny, circa 1815.Extremely fine and rare, 18K two-tone gold, pair-cased, diamond set, quarter striking clock watch.

C. outer double body, the diamond set bezel chased with a wreath of flowers, the back applied with gold laurel branches set with diamonds, two banners against a matte ground and applied with a crescent and a star set with large rose-cut diamonds, the border decoration matching the bezel, interesting 'bassine' pierced insert mounted on the rim formig the frame for the inner case. Inner double body, bassine with diamond set bow, a large rose-cut diamond set in the pendant, the back pierced to allothe sound out, engraved with scrolling foliage and centered by engraved vase with flowers. D. white enamel with Turkish numerals. Diamond-set hands. M. 20'', fire gilt full plate double train, with turned pillars, fixed gilt brass barrels with revolving arbors, cylinder escapement, plain brass three armed balance, flat balance spring, brass escape wheel, overbanking pin on the balance wheel, gilt brass cock pierced and engraved with scrolling foliage. Striking on a bell with strike-silent selecion lever on the bezel.Dial, dust cap and back plate signed.Diam. 62 mm.
