Swiss, circa 1870.Fine 18K gold and enamel Carnet de Bal.Shaped like a book, both panels hinged at the edges, each panel with three loops at the free edge where the pen fits, the front with fine enamel medallion inset depicting two urchins sharing a meal with a dog. On either side, an engraved enamel vase with flowers against dark blue translucent enamel, between Islamic motifs in azure and dark blue enamel. The back similar, but centered by an enameled miniature of a young boy taking a girl for an afternoon horse ride with a mountain landscape in thebackground, the edges engraved in scrolls and a geometrical pattern with five enameled panels the insides counter enameled. Inside, there is room for a paper notebook. Gold pen entirely decorated with floral engravings.Dim. 55x81 mm., 83 mm. thick.
