LG, Swiss, circa 1835.Very fine, rare, and unusual 18K two-tone gold and enamel music box with a vinaigrette compartment.

C. Double-body, rectangular, the frosted yellow gold lid with fine enamel of a lakeside landscape within octagonal azure enamel frame, surrounded by enameled foliage within a polished rose gold outer frame, the sides with formal decoration in dark blue enamel. The sides of the bottom elaborately engine-turned within opaque white enamel frames, corners in azure enamel flowers, the bottom slightly sunk in order to avoid scratching, and engine-turned in the same manner as the sides, within a whitepaque enamel frame, and floral decoration in dark blue enamel against matte and frosted background matching the front lid. Inside: two compartments, one vinaigrette or pill compartment with rose gold hinged lid, entirely pierced and engraved with a fruit basket surrounded by very fine floral engraving, the second compartment for a very small musical movement with yellow gold 'basket-weave' engine-turning, mounted by three gold screws. M. Musical train with circular pin-disc vibrating on a 12-blae comb, key-wound through an aperture in the back of the box, activated by opening the lid. Stamped 'LG' in a lozenge inside the lid.Dim. 40x30 mm.
